I grew up in a small town in rural northern Illinois, and went on to graduate from Western Illinois University in 1972 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I taught school briefly two times. In Goldsboro, North Carolina I taught high school remedial math, and in Hampton, Virginia I taught third grade. I\’m married, the mother of two grown children, and I have five wonderful grandchildren.
I began sewing with guidance from 4-H leaders at the age of ten. My interest in quilting developed in 1976, after taking beginning quilting lessons through the YWCA in Salina, Kansas. I\’ve been fortunate to have my work featured in the following books: Quilts Across America and Easy Traditional Stars, and also in McCall\’s Quilting Magazine, Quilter\’s Newsletter Magazine, American Patchwork & Quilting, Traditional Quiltworks, and Quiltmaker. I\’ve taught many classes, both locally and on the national level, and own a small company through which I market my designs.
After many family moves due to my husband\’s Air Force career, we are now quite settled in the Tidewater area of Virginia. Several years ago I designed a line of foundation piecing patterns called Easy Big Blocks™ for The McCall Pattern Company. These patterns were printed on \”dressmaker\” weight tissue paper. McCall\’s no longer markets these patterns, but I\’ve continued designing and producing tissue paper patterns, as shown on this website. McCall\’s still prints the tissue paper for me, and I\’m fortunate to have a wonderful group of people that work with me with to do all of the packaging. Our newest groups of patterns is called Little Bits, small patterns that make a variety of small quilted items.
